Safeguarding Competency Frameworks

Below are some useful tools for professionals and agencies to assess current knowledge around adult safeguarding and to identify areas for professional development.

 

Sussex Learning and Development Strategy

The three Sussex Safeguarding Adults Boards have worked with partner agencies to develop an overarching framework for adult safeguarding training and development across Sussex.

It provides a shared approach to the promotion of safeguarding adults competency frameworks, analysis of learning outcomes from Safeguarding Adults Reviews (SARs) and shared areas of focus for learning and workforce development.

National Competency Framework for Safeguarding Adults

The National Centre for Post-Qualifying Social Work and Professional Practice at Bournemouth University have produced a National Competency Framework for Safeguarding Adults.

This offers a clear framework in relation to adult safeguarding for staff working in a variety of roles. It provides identifiable standards to measure competencies and to support ongoing development.
